TED Talks

YOUR BODY LANGUAGE SHAPES WHO YOU ARE

Amy Cuddy is an American socila pshycologist very known for her research on sociology topics. Her TED Talk explains the importance of nonverbal communication.

Amy explains the importance of the effects and judgements of our body language can transsmit to others. That judgements which we do are the responsible of the expressions of power and dominance. For example in animal kingdom the symbol of power is about expanding, ocuppy the maximum space which also means opening up.

Aversely, when someone is in a powerful position, we tend to make ourselves weak.

Our body fabricates testosterona and cortisol, the first one makes us more powerful and the second one more powerless.

Amy's theory are:
  • Our bodies change our minds and our minds can change our behavior can change our outcomes.
  • Don't fake it until you make it, fake it until you become it.
  • Tiny tweaks can lead to big chances.
In conclusion Amy had taught us about the importance of our body language and that we can make the difference just with two minutes, getting our testosterone up and our cortisol down.

Don't leave that situation feeling like, oh I didn't show them who I am and show who I am.
